I’ve been looking for a secure, lightweight enclosure for my 10-year-old Yorkie when I need to leave the house for errands, and this travel pen checked almost all the boxes for me.
First off, the size is actually more generous than I expected. There’s more than enough space to fit her orthopedic memory foam bed, two ceramic food/water bowls, a stack of pee pads, and all her favorite chew toys — she can even stretch out and nap comfortably without feeling cramped. The soft-sided structure is surprisingly sturdy, and the removable top makes it super easy to access her or clean out the inside. Assembly only took me about five minutes, and folding it back up for storage is totally straightforward, which makes it great for traveling or tucking it away when we have guests over. Build quality feels solid overall, the fabric is thick and doesn’t rip easily even when she scratches at the sides occasionally.
That said, I can’t give it a full five stars because of the strong, unpleasant moldy odor it had when I first unboxed it. The smell was so intense that it gave me headaches for a couple of days, even with an air purifier running full blast near it. It’s been a full week now, and the smell is fading gradually, but it’s still noticeable if you get up close. For the price point, I really think brands should fix this manufacturing issue — there’s no excuse for a new pet product to come with such a strong bad smell that could irritate both pets and people.

I hope the brand addresses the odor issue in future production, because it’s otherwise a really well-made product.
